On his 2007 Mute Records debut, WE CAN CREATE, British electronica artist James Chapman--aka Maps--presents a shimmering set of shoegaze-inspired songs. Remarkably full-formed for a first outing, Chapman's aesthetic ambitiously nods to My Bloody Valentine and Spacemen 3 while retaining a digital veneer (see the dreamy "So Low, So High"), essentially making Maps the U.K. counterpart to France's likeminded and similarly lauded M83.
