The second of two CDs in this series was recorded two months after the earlier Jazzology release. This all-star concert is almost up to the level of the first. Trumpeter Muggsy Spanier, trombonist George Brunies and the great soprano-saxophonist Sidney Bechet are heard on five spirited numbers, trombonist Jack Teagarden teams up in separate performances with Spanier and trumpeter Johnny Windhurst, Windhurst is heard with pianist Dick Wellstood in a quartet, Bechet has a couple of features, The Two Gospel Keys sing a couple of traditional numbers and finally Spanier, Windhurst, Brunies and clarinetist Bob Wilber team up for the closing "Dippermouth Blues." Dixieland and New Orleans jazz are urged to pick up both of these Jazzology sets. ~ Scott Yanow
