  • With his spiky, angular style, Marc Ribot emerged as one of the most distinctive guitar stylists of the 1980s and '90s, spicing up the music of Tom Waits and Elvis Costello while remaining a vital part of the NYC avant-garde scene. YO! I KILLED YOUR GOD is Ribot at his most in-your-face; uncompromising frontal guitar assaults are the order of the day, but the contexts vary throughout. Close listeners will hear echoes of Sonny Sharrock's free jazz, the Minutemen's avant-punk, Sonic Youth's noise-rock, and Eugene Chadbourne's sonic perversity.
  • Ribot kicks things off with a bang, on his radical reinvention of Patsy Cline's "I Fall To Pieces," declaiming the lyrics like some political manifesto over strangulated bursts of skronk. From there, it's a wild ride encompassing everything from a quirky take on the jazz standard "Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise" to "Jamon Con Yuca," which echoes the sound of Ribot's side project, Los Cubanos Postizos.
