An obscure little gem of a singer from the height of the Swingin' '60s, Sharon Tandy was a star in her native South Africa and England, but relatively unknown outside of that country. A 1966 session at the legendary Stax studios (backed by the MGs!) and an opening slot on Stax's 1967 U.K. tour sought to change that, but alas, did not. Behold, however, the first ever collection of Tandy's surprisingly excellent soul-pop work. While casual fans of '60s beat and blue-eyed soul will be just fine with a Shangri-La's comp here and Dusty Springfield album there, collectors should run-don't-walk to snag this nugget.
